Our Mission

To empower young athletes through mountain biking by building skills, confidence, and character. As Canada’s leading youth mountain bike club, we expand participation across all programs and develop one of the country’s most respected and competitive race teams—while reinvesting as a non-profit to support athlete development and community programs.

Our Vision

To inspire every young athlete to discover their potential, from first trail to national stage, while building an inclusive and thriving cycling community.

About Us

Founded in 2017, the Durham Shredders have grown into Ontario’s largest youth mountain bike club, with over 4,000 riders participating in our programs. Each year, more than 500 youth take part—ranging from recreational riders discovering the joy of biking to athletes pursuing competition at local, provincial, and national levels. As a registered non-profit organization, we reinvest all support directly into athlete development, community programs, and building a strong cycling culture across Durham Region.

Dedicated Coaches and Mentors

Our coaches and mentors are the heart of Durham Shredders. With backgrounds in competitive racing, youth development, and certified mountain bike instruction (including NCCP and PMBIA certifications), our team brings decades of trail experience and a genuine passion for building confident, capable riders. Whether your child is clipping in for the first time or chasing podiums at Ontario Cup races, our coaches meet every rider where they are and help them grow. More than just instructors, they're trail mentors, role models, and lifelong mountain bike enthusiasts who believe the sport has the power to transform young people on and off the bike.

"Seeing the progression in the kids is what keeps me in the program."

"It's very satisfying to see them finally get a feature or work on something really hard and then be able to actually accomplish it."

Our team is committed to fostering growth in every rider.

"It's a great environment to learn and grow and have fun."

"They are the ones that keep me energizing and wanting to be on my bike."

"When you teach a skill to a student and they get it and the smile on their face, it's like, yeah, this is awesome — that's what it's all about."

"You improve your riding, and you also improve other people's riding as well."
